Meet the Artist:

As a plein-air artist, my primary goal is to reach the essence of a spot — to expose an aesthetically hidden place with watercolors. I like to represent high complexity with simplicity. Most of my paintings are dominated by light — such an elusive element of a landscape painting, as it always dances on objects. When I am playing with light, I try to reach its highest quality. Light is the soul of a landscape painting, indicating its caliber, but darkness is the only opportunity to reach it. The interplay of light and shade produces a chiaroscuro effect and draws a viewer’s eyes to a painting with ease and comfort. Some of my art is dominated by wood, of which I love the antiquity, texture, colors and even smell. Wood has always called out to me and inspired me. When light meets wood, it creates a fantastic golden ambience — an amalgamation that makes me fall in love and that I yearn to capture. Some of my recent works have featured an interesting play of light and shade under the themes of a rainy night, concrete jungle and the countryside.
