Meet the Artist:

Encouragement of my attempts as a fledgling artist led me to pursue an internship with a relative who was a signboard painter when I was quite young, launching my journey down this path. Soon, I was pushed to join art college, and eventually did a Master’s in painting at Hampi, getting the opportunity here to delve deep not just into practice but also theory, as well as garner inputs by skilled teachers. Here, I explored the stories and journeys of Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, KK Hebbar, Amrita Sher-Gil and many more inspiring artists. I also used this time to experiment with colours, textures and compositions on my canvas, and began to enjoy playing with them. Today, my art dabbles extensively in the hues of burnt sienna, raw umber, black, white, ochre yellow, red and very select colours that suit my concept, all in all.
I have felt the pull to create something that captures the feelings of the human faces that surround me. I have been working on expressionism, and believe artwork can spark pain and joy. My first series was inspired by my own father, a farmer who till date works in the fields. I have seen his struggle and pain since I was a child, and have tried to manifest the sense of ‘survival’ on my canvas. This effort continues.
