After studying Fine Arts and participating in numerous art shows, the evolution of my work remains an effort to document my thought process, through which I am trying to understand the world I inhabit. In the initial stages of this journey, my art was highly influenced with the language of Impressionism and Realism. Eventually, I plunged deeper into a study of the Islamic religion and its ideologies. It was at this juncture that I became aware of how the idea of religion is misinterpreted across the world — how ‘terrorism’ is promoted in the name of religion. There is a deep reflection in my art practice of all my reading about violence and war, both in the name of religion and without, such as the deep tragedies that are occurring in Syria till date. These tremendously impact what I present through the mediums of woodcut, linocut and more.
